Women in the Arts is an organisation run by Katie Winten and Isabelle Hore-Thorburn, addressing endemic issues of gender inequality and exclusionary practices in the Australian arts landscape. The online jobs board was the inaugural response to a need for free accessible opportunities and support in the arts. The jobs board has connected people with opportunities in contract, gallery and government arts roles.

In 2016, Verge Gallery hosted a series of Women in the Arts panel discussions, inviting an exchange of ideas and professional experiences. Focusing on mentorship, regional engagement, diversity and accessibility, the events brought our online community into a physical space.

Women in the Arts has worked with Vivid Ideas, Australian Design Centre, Verge Gallery, FBi Radio, Queer Screen and Frontyard Projects to create space for accessible conversations about gender, feminism, diversity and accessibility.
